- The labyrinth is situated so
the sunrise will shine down the entrance to the center on the Summer
Solstice.
- The entrance is located at NE
on the compass. There
is a bench at each compass point. The large arch is North.
- There are five arches that you
pass through on your way to the labyrinth. Each arch helps to separate
the secular from the divine. We will add two more arches to make seven
in all.
- An Oak tree was planted
opposite the entrance of the labyrinth at sunrise to represent the Tree of
Life. Ancient labyrinths frequently had a tree planted in the center
of the labyrinth.
- The dedication song was:
Simple
Gifts
'Tis
the gift to be simple,
'Tis
the gift to be free,
'Tis
the gift to come down
where
we ought to be.
And
when we find ourselves
in
the place just right,
'Twill
be in the valley of love and delight.
When
true simplicity is gain'd,
To
bow and to bend
we
shan't be ashamed,
To
turn, turn will
be
our delight,
'Til
by turning, turning,
we
come round right.
